Fragment Code, "NARVIK" was found today on Monster.com. Take the poll on the main page and click the results button.
I would most like to take a work sabbatical at this exotic location:
On the results page you’ll see another banner ad for Narvik Travel, (“Narvik Travel – For those who believe getting LOST is an art form. Click Here.”) which links back to hansoexposed.com.
The video fragment is of T. W. Mittelwerk saying, "We have tried to change those values by manipulating the environment in many, many ways."
Fragment Code 56
Fragment Code, "OUDW" was found on an old post on Lost Ninja's blog. If you click the hot link "Snakes on a Plane" it takes you to the new glyph and code. (How this was found remains a mystery.).
The video fragment is of Thomas Mittlewerk saying, "We need not take any more lives than is absolutely necessary. Yes?"
Fragment Code 57
Fragment Code 57 "307L97BDB9" was found today at Rachel's Secret Blog. There is a new “Link” (right sidebar) on the page. Click on the number “57” to be redirected to this image. The code can be found by arranging the flashing letters and numbers, top to bottom, left to right.
The video fragment is of “Dr.” Mittlewerk saying, "...and the bodies of the dead must be brought to this station immediately for full genetic workup."

Kim here, so what's the sitch?
I just started watching Kim Possible. Loved it!!! It is all about a high school teen, balancing the cheer leading captain position, honor roll, and many more, including saving the world from villains. Of course, all heroes need a wisecracking, clumsy partner. "KP" is no exception. The comic relief of the heroic duo, Ron Stoppable is always there for Kim, though his pet and second best friend Rufus, the hairless mole rat, is always there to help out the duo when the going gets rough. Make sure to check it out!!!

“What a crazy day! First, let me start by saying that… things were late… So, lots of people were there at 11 but the candy bars didn't show up until 12… There was no banner or anything, but the local ABC was handing out their usual t-shirts. (“ABC News 7 on your side.” I was kind of hoping for a Hanso or Dharma shirt.) Then the Apollo candy bar people showed up (five in all) and quickly handed them out. A lot of people left quickly, but the die-hards hung around…
…But no golden ticket! All the boxes where searched; the Apollo people didn't seem to mind. I spoke to the lead guy and he said that they were given a script to follow (no one I spoke to actually heard it) and they were told that they had to take at least ten pictures per hour until all the bars were gone. I can only assume that they were looking for demographic information on the crowd. And save for two other strollers in line, the group was mostly in their very upper twenty to thirties. Maybe five from the forties range.
All in all, I think it went well. And the chocolate is not all that bad!
September 4, 2006 – Vol. 66 – No. 10 Issue (page 50) of People magazine has another Speaker ad:
WHERE IS ALVAR HANSO?
It’s the question that’s been on our lips ever since Rachel Blake, a.k.a. “Persephone,” first hacked the Hanso Foundation’s website.
She showed us their lies. She showed us THF’s crimes against man and nature. She uncovered evidence of a sinister plot called the SPIDER PROTOCOL – evidence that is unfolding for us, even now, at www.hansoexposed.com.
But, things became too dangerous. Rachel went underground.
Finally, she sent two emails. Urged us to go to www.apollocandy.com and find the Apollo Bars.
I found one! Stamped into the chocolate was www.whereisalvar.com.
That very same question: WHERE IS ALVAR?
People from all over the world are uploading pictures of themselves with their Apollo Bars. They’re showing The Hanso Foundation the faces of our resistance. And they’re looking for the special Apollo “Golden Oracle” Bars…
The “Golden Oracles” are in limited supply, but Rachel assures us, once enough are found, she has something else to show us. Something HUGE.
I’m looking for my Apollo “Golden Oracle” Bar right now. Why aren’t you?
Let’s find the truth together! Join me, Speaker, at http://www.insidetheexcperience.com
On the opposite page of the Speaker ad is an ad for Monster.com. There is a young man seated in an empty stadium pictured. The seat next to him has the “Hanso Foundation” and its logo inside the seat number placard.
Also, pictured is an image of the Monster.com website. On the page is a glyph which reads www.monster.com. The Hanso Foundation’s logo is in the center of the glyph. At the bottom of the ad is: “>> hansoexposed.com.

The illusive fragment Code # 42 VE5SMC was found today on Lostpedia. This page for user “Rachel Blake” has a hidden message in Morse code (select the open area under User: Rachel Blake). Translated this message says, “WHAT LINKS HERE OX2A” which is “42” and links to User: HACKALLBEER (RACHEL BLAKE). (See bottom of page). Click on User:HACKALLBEER then “42” to find the hidden glyph. Whew! Who found that convoluted code? Speaker, D.J. Dan, Alvar Hanso himself? The video fragment is of Mittelwerk saying "...exactly. You find the best way to get it done... precisely... surgically."
.-- .... .- - .-.. .. -. -.- ... .... . .-. .
----- -..- ..--- .-
Fragment Code # 51
Fragment Code "GZ2I" was found today by hovering your mouse at the bottom of DJ Dan's “Eyes On The Man” link. The video fragment is of the bearded man (Alvar Hanso) saying; "A radio transmitter has been erected on the island."

And fragment Code "ZFTLZAGO014H" was found at Australian TV 7 site. Click "Lost" under “T.V Shows – Entertainment” (near bottom of the page) to reveal this glyph. This video fragment is of the bearded man (Alvar Hanso) saying, "Your research is intended to do nothing less than save the world as we know it."
Fragment Code # 53
Fragment code # 53 “TROPICS” was found today at Monster.Com. Go to the Monster.com site and take the following poll:
I would be most LOST if I were in this position:
* Anger management therapist
* Simian veterinarian
* Genetic engineer
* Personal assistant
* Organ courier
On the results page you’ll find a banner ad for LOST Paradise. Click on the “Click Here >>” button in the ad and you will be re-directed to HansoExposed.com. Enter the code “TROPICS” for the video fragment of Mittlewerk saying, “They think they're infected with a virus carried by local macaques.”

Apollo Candy Bar Give Away
Tuesday, August 22, 2006
A short article and an Apollo press release from Entertainment Weekly was posted today here. Interestingly enough this article was posted by Scott Brown and not by "Doc" Jensen. Do we have another character entrance here?

'Lost': Grab an Apollo bar
The third season of Lost is so close, you can practically taste it. In fact, you can taste it -- in the form of a complimentary Apollo bar. Below, find the complete press release from “The Apollo Candy Company, a subsidiary of The Hanso Group.” (We’ve redacted the contact phone number until we’re absolutely sure it’s part of the game.) Knowing what you now know, would you willingly bite into any air-dropped, Hatch-stored, Hanso-affiliated foodstuff?
Also, let’s begin a running tally of everyone who’s enjoyed the “out-of-this-world” taste of an Apollo: We can assume Hurley ate one (though I believe we only saw him eat one in a hallucination), and Kate devoured one in a long, very deliberate mini-sequence, shortly after the discovery of the Hatch. Are her horsey hallucinations somehow connected to Apollo consumption? Is the “out-of-this-world” thing a clue to an alien thread? (I sure hope not.) Also: Am I hungry? Yes. Not quite hungry enough to consume edible schwag, but certainly hungry enough to raid the breakroom Swiss Miss box. Back soon…

COMING TO A GALAXY NEAR YOU: “APOLLO BAR,”THE CHOCOLATE BAR THAT’S OUT OF THIS WORLD
Free Apollo Bars to Be Distributed for a Limited Time In Select Locations Across the U.S., U.K., Australia And Asia
What once was lost, now is found… Apollo Bar, the scrumptious chocolate bar developed in the 1960s by M. David Benson, has been enjoyed by generations of consumers. For those who’ve yet to taste Mr. Benson’s bars, your opportunity to “discover what’s inside” awaits. Beginning Wednesday, August 23, free Apollo Bars will be distributed while supplies last in select locations throughout the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and Asia. The Apollo Bar is manufactured and distributed by the Apollo Candy Company, a subsidiary of The Hanso Group.
“Chocolate has been my life’s passion, and I am thrilled to be able to share my passion with people all over the world,” said Mr. Benson. “Once people taste my chocolate bar, I think they‘ll be hooked. I’d like to thank Mr. Alvar Hanso and the good folks at The Hanso Foundation for making this possible.”
Mr. Benson, founder of the “Apollo Candy Company,” distributed the first Apollo Bars in San Francisco, CA in 1964. The bars grew in popularity and were circulating across the United States by 1968 before the company fell into dire straits in the early seventies. However, due to the considerable financial intervention of Alvar Hanso, founder of the worldwide philanthropic organization, The Hanso Foundation, the company was saved from bankruptcy and infused with new life. Today, the Apollo Company is alive and well as the private purveyor of chocolates for Alvar Hanso and his many companies.
From August 23 through September, the Apollo Candy Company will distribute free Apollo Bars in cities throughout the U.S., including New York, Los Angeles, Washington DC, and Chicago. For a complete list of dates and locations where people can get their free Apollo bar, and for more information on the Apollo Candy Company, please visit our website at www.apollocandy.com.
For more information on The Hanso Foundation, please visit www.thehansofoundation.org.
Acura RDX Launch
The Acura RDX Launch locations correspond with the Apollo Candy Bar give away locations. Coincidence? Doubtful!
Visit Acura .com, click on “RDX” then “Launch Events.”
An e-mail from Rachel Blake was received today directing us to head over to the Apollo Candy website. We learned yesterday that some new images were loaded which include: The Apollo Bar – Swirling drip of chocolate with another broken piece, The Beginning – now shows a strawberry/chocolate birthday cake with one candle, The Man – no new image, The Company – the image a new hot-air balloon, The Jeep – no new image, and U.S. Distribution – additional dates added (see previous post). Other than that we have not seen any other changes to the site. And at every other page load a U.K. Distribution button appears but only gives a “loading…” message and never loads.

RACHEL HERE.JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW -- THEY'RE AFTER ME...
BUT, I'M STILL BREATHING.
I LISTENED TO DJ DAN. I FEEL YOUR SUPPORT. I CAN'T TELL YOU WHAT IT MEANS TO ME.
YOU'RE DOING GREAT WORK WITH THE SRI LANKA VIDEO. KEEP GOING. FIND THE PIECES. PUT THEM TOGETHER AT WWW.HANSOEXPOSED.COM
BUT THAT'S NOT WHY I'M WRITING.
THE REASON I'M WRITING IS TO TELL YOU... SOMETHING'S ABOUT TO HAPPEN. PAY ATTENTION. HEAD TO WWW.APOLLOCANDY.COM
THAT'S ALL FOR NOW.
Fragment Code 46
Fragment code 46 "25KOCJS6S6" was found in the background of the Valenzetti Equation website here. (Top right hand corner – moving right to left.)The video fragment is of Mittlwerk saying, "The villages of _____ and _____ have allowed us to test our vaccine on them."
Fragment Code 47
And, fragment code 47 "FRXRUK9TQ" was found by a number of players after The Lost Experience was hacked. In our opinion, the hacking was a creative method to releasing a glyph code presented to them by TPTB and was performed by the site owner. The video fragment is of an unidentified off-camera man asking, " These are people, innocent human beings, and we're just..." Then Mittlewerk responds, "If you knew with mathmatical certainty that you could end all famine, war, and poverty, what would you do?"
Apollo Candy U.K. Distribution
Back in 1964, when that very first, sinfully scrumptious Apollo Bar planted a 10,000-watt smile on J. Pickersweet's face, could M. David Benson have possibly imagined his brilliant confection would one day be available worldwide?
The Apollo Candy Company is proud to announce the Apollo Bar, the world's most delectable chocolate sensation, is now available, for the first time ever, in the UK!!!
How can I get one, you ask?
It's easy! We're giving them away! While supplies last, simply go to your nearest Forbidden Planet store (from Thurs 24th August) and say the daily code. Trust us! Your tummy will thank you.
Thursday's code is "Alvar Hanso".
Good eating, UK!!

Evidently, an e-mail was sent Friday to TLEC from Jeff “Doc” Jensen which stated:
"All I know is this:
Beginning at 5 PM, a new clue will be exposed to the light of day in the greater Los Angeles area. It will also be on display outside 11766 Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles on Aug. 21, from 6 AM to 9 AM."
A player from Southern California found the fragment code and glyph "ESJ4X6EBNC" on the side of a car located near the 11700 block of Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles this morning. The video fragment is the voice of the bearded man saying, "...all of the support you will need, including regular medicine and food drops will be made in perpetuity."
We assume the “exposed to the light of day” part of the clue was never found.
Also, the Lost Ninja is calling this glyph 29 but we have doubts about that. Has that car been driving around Los Angeles for weeks without anyone noticing the glyph? And why was the clue given to TLEC via e-mail weeks later and not when it was released? And, more importantly, why did Jeff Jensen enter the code on HansoExposed.com? There is definitely something very fishy about this glyph and its a shame the player who tracked it down will not get credit for the find. We've given in to the 29th glyph being ESJ4X6EBNC but reserve the right to rescind.
Fragment Code 45
As reported on August 18th, the newest People Magazine (Aug. 28) carried the same Jeep ad that's been run the past few weeks but this time "TRIBALWARS" has been replaced by "theflashligh" as the code found on the curb. This code was activated today and the video fragment is of Mittlewerk saying, "… without allowing for any more suffering than is absolutely necessary." The glyph has not yet been found.
Friday, August 18, 2006
Another Speaker ad was found in the latest edition of People magazine (Aug. 28, Vol. 66, No. 9). It reads:
“ARE THE PRODUCERS OF LOST PULLING THE WOOL OVER OUR EYES?
If you believe computer hacker Rachel "Persephone" Blake they just might be. She exposed The Hanso Foundation's crimes on their own website. Unearthed a plot involving Sri Lanka- a plot The Hanso Foundation would kill to protect. And, at the popular entertainment expo, San Diego Comic-Con, she screamed at LOST's executive producers, accusing them of being in The Hanso Foundation's pockets. After all, THF had paid for commercial spots on ABC during LOST.
The producers, of course, denied any connection to the REAL foundation. LOST is just a television show, they said. Alvar Hanso is fictional- he's not real. And, with that, security escorted Rachel out.
But not before she yelled, "Alvar Hanso IS real...! And, if you want the truth you will go to HANSOEXPOSED.COM!"
I wanted the truth. So, I went.
I discovered that images with strange hieroglyphs and codes are being leaked on the web and in the real world. Each code unlocking a portion of a video begging intriguing questions:
Why was Foundation president Dr. Thomas Werner Mittlewerk on the island of Sri Lanka?
Who is the bearded narrator of the "DHARMA Initiative" film?
What information could this video hold that it's worth killing over?
Can it be? If this is all REAL, will the secret of the LOST "numbers" finally be revealed?
Afraid we're ALL in the dark on that one.
Find the glyphs and see for yourself at HANSOEXPOSED.COM
Help solve the puzzle with me, Speaker, at http://inside the experience.com”
Also found in the magazine was the following ad for Verizon Broadband with the following images. A glyph with no code was found at the bottom of the ad. I have enlarged it here.

Fragment Code # 44
Fragment code # 44 “VACCINE” was found today at RBD.com. During a conversation in an updated ROT thread called, “To tell the sleuth.” the following conversation took place:
BroadBandBeatnik 11:06am Why don't you take a tour and instead of reading into things, listen for a change.
Fiberoptician 11:07am Yeah DSL, listen for a change.
At RBD.com click on the “Take Tour” street sign (lower right corner of page). Click on the drive-in speaker and you’ll hear a sound. This has been interpreted as “VACCINE.” In all honesty, we could not make it out at all. Take the “VACCINE” back over to HansoExposed.com and enter it for the newest video fragment.
People Magazine Ad
The newest People Magazine (Aug. 28) carries the same Jeep ad that's been run the past few weeks but this time "TRIBALWARS" has been replced by "the flashlight". This, however does not work at HansoExposed.com, yet.
Thursday, August 17, 2006
Fragment Code "44KU2VKQ" was posted today at the Ninja’s website (see quote below) here. The code began working on hansoexposed.com at about 9:15am.
“I've received word about another possible glyph sighting in Sydney! A ninja wanting to be known only as Mr X emailed me just now to say that, while on board a yacht heading in to dock near the Andrew (Boy) Charlton pool, he thinks he spotted a glyph right down by the water, near some weird scultpture looking stuff.”
ROT Discussion (Trevor)
Rot was updated yesterday and it seems there is discussion concerning sign language and a glyph. Evidently, there is also some information coming in on the Trevor (Nanite) Flikr page. His page was updated with a glyph for "Chocolates". The Chocolates glyph caption is “call tom k yegato”. Head to SubLYMONal.com and type in Chocolates you get “call tom k yegato.” Using the letters “TOM K YEGATO” to the corresponding numbers on a phone, you get the number 866-593-4286. When you call this number, you’ll hear the recording of a man in an English accent saying, “Sod off, I'm watching the tube.” The recording pauses then plays for a total of three times, then in a woman’s voice, “Thank you.” and hangs up. If you go to YouTube and search for "rblake" you'll find a video called "The Chocolate Factory" by CHARLABEELK which is another anagram for RACHEL BLAKE. In the video, there is a sign language translator wearing a glyph t-shirt! Note: TLEC is working on a translation of the sign language on the video and it does not appear to be the same content as that spoken in the video. More to come later…
The Chocolate Factory seems like an homage to Roald Dahl and Willie Wonka and plays straight into the great Apollo Candy give-away next month. Next we’ll see the five-golden tickets and the tour of Oompa-Loompa Land!
It seems that some players who know sign language have interpretted the message to read that Mittelwerk and Hackett had an argument concerning the chemistry of the Apollo Candy bar and that Hackett may be on the run. We'll try to keep this message updated.
Speaker Ad - People Magazine
The newest edition of People Magazine (August 21, Vol. 66 No. 8) ran another advertisement for Speaker (see transcript below). The Speaker ad can be found on page 35 and is opposite the Jeep ad (page 36) that has “Tribalwars” on the curb. On the backside of that page (or page 37) is a Verizon Chocolate advertisement. We know a glyph clue is buried somewhere here but have been unable to find it. Post a comment or e-mail us should you find it!
Transcript of ad:
Will "THE HANSO FOUNDATION" Get Away with Murder?
The hacker Persephone exposed their crimes on www.thehansofoundation.org. She shot straight and true. But, just as she was about to give us the WHY behind Hanso's LIES--she was SHUT DOWN.
Enter: Rachel Blake and her blog: stophanso.rachelblake.com--
It soon became clear: Persephone and Rachel were one and the same. Having shed her mask, Rachel became a standard for everyone to rally around. She was fighting for us, and she wanted answers:
Was THF president Dr. Mittelwerk's research into ancient shipping lanes related to the fact Alvar Hanso's grandfather once captained a slave ship called "The Black Rock?"
Did Mittelwerk really have mathematicians working in secret on an equation predicting humanity's end?
And, what about Mittelwerk's top-secret SPIDER PROTOCOL? Could THIS explain his search for a mysterious island near the equator? Could THIS answer why he'd equip an ocean freighter with hospital wards labeled "QUARANTINE?"
In QUARANTINE, no one can hear you scream.
The questions mounted. Rachel found the answers. She got 'em on tape.
But the truth is deadly. Rachel's hidden fragments of her video are all over the web. Find the pieces and put them together at

The one that got away… I was e-mailed this clue on Friday. An observant reader told me that the word “chocolates” could be found on the TiVo remote of the subLymonal ad in the August 11th issue of Entertainment Weekly. It turns out that CHOCOLATES is the 38th Fragment code and we missed it completely. Our apologies to RaynhamGuy for not seeing the connection.
The video is of the bearded man saying, “Whether through nuclear fire, chemical and biological warfare, conventional warfare, pandemic, overpopulation..." A number of images flash across the screen (similar to Psychological Video) including a nuclear detonation, a biohazard sign, a laboratory, an aircraft carrier, and scenes of refugees.
Fragment Code 39
Fragment code 39 A0Y8 was found in Times Square on the ABC Super Sign today. The video is of the bearded man saying, "Founders and masterminds of the DHARMA Initiative. By now, you also know there are many research goals for our joint venture."

The two-hour D. J. Dan Live Internet Broadcast Marathon last night/this morning ended in a raid by lab-coated members of the Hanso Foundation. Before the interruption, however, we gleaned a few new pieces of information. First, Dan added a new segment to his show called, “Conspiracies in the News,” in which he reveals real stories in American newspapers as conspiracies. Next, our man, the fixer (called Malik by D.J. Dan and Ironman by some others) interrupted the broadcast with a cryptic message for Rachel and then rattled off a series of numbers: 240 249 68 61 37 118 75 233 231 150 36 184 157 51 144 180 253 50 173 30 222 192 13 82 1". Then, again, in a leap of unbelievable intuition someone found the answer to this clue quite quickly. We’ve been told that if you look up these page numbers in Bad Twin and take the first letter of each word of each page you get the message, "I know where he is, I can set it up." We are not sure what this message refers to yet but assume TPTB will certainly feed it to someone soon.
We were mildly disappointed with this broadcast as the quality of questions posed by callers was mediocre at best. We also heard from Speaker, Ninja, Fenris and David from TLEC which screams scripted. And, as usual, did not receive any real information of any value. We suppose at this stage of our Experience this should not surprise us but we also hope for that one bit of information that may answer at least some of our unanswered questions.
I will not include a transcript of this broadcast because of its length. However, you can listen to the broadcast in a number of places on the Internet. Point your browser at any of the other Experience blogs to find it.
Fragment Code 37
Also, in his broadcast D.J. Dan hinted a number of times about a new glyph. And that it would be found in a major U.S. city and that it was taped up to the door of the RadioHarvest.com building in a city that rhymed with “Fresh Air.” A few players located this establishment and copied the glyph which is 4R19Y0UXB6Y. The glyph and more information can be found at our Video Segment site. Video Segment site.
Fragment Code 38 note: D.J. Dan also alluded to the fact that another glyph would be released in Times Square sometime on Monday.

Woman: Hi. You calling for D.J. Dan?
The Alternative One: Yes.
Woman: Where are you calling from?
The Alternative One: Southeast Wisconsin.
Woman: Oh, Wisconsin, Well, D.J. Dan’s not here yet. He won’t be here until 11 o’clock Pacific time. What time zone are you in?
The Alternative One: Central
Woman: Central. So, I think that means that he’ll be on at 1 AM your time.
The Alternative One: O.K. And he’s on at this phone number? Or…?
Woman: Yep, just call him on back and try your luck and maybe you can get through to talk to him.
The Alternative One: What about the RadioHarvest.com site? Do you know anything about that? Is there going to be streaming audio there as well?
Woman: I don’t know anything about that. But try back. Try back in a couple of hours.
The Alternative One: Thank you. Appreciate it.

Entertainment Weekly SubLYMONal Ad
EW August 18 issue (James Bond on cover) has a Sprite ad (opposite the same Speaker ad that was in People). It's a TV sitting atop a Tivo machine. The screen a weird landscape with SUBLYMONAL across it.

Date: July 21, 2004
RE: Test Study
Initial research shows release of the psychotropic compound to be a success. The acid and flavoring agents of the beverage disguise the taste. More tests are necessary to reach optimum viral spread. My superiors are eager for you to join our effort, once you have extricated yourself from your current situation.
Mel0Drama's Hackett letter (again)...
And this conversation between Mel0Drama and Rachel from her blog:
Mel0Drama: I work in the archive of the Engineering Development Center. It was a punishment. I asked Hackett too many questions. But he never could have guessed... the ARCHIVE was the last place he should have sent me to work. I have the proof. The DOCUMENTS are all there. Sealed in a vault. Untouched by human hands. Ready to convict. And, I need you to help me expose them.
Me: So, why don't you just post your evidence here and get done with it?
Mel0Drama: BECAUSE NOBODY BELIEVES ME. They have to see for themselves. They have to see the documents. Sitting in the company vault. On the company mainframe. Please. It's a fair exchange.
Me: What is?
Mel0Drama: I'll hide your video, secure it for your users to access online. Password-protected. On a CORPORATE mainframe. Untouchable. All you have to do is tell your followers to go to my archive portal and hear my story... once they do, I'll place your video in the archive vault. They can watch it through my portal!
Me: No. Here's how I work. You host my video, keep it secure. If I'm satisfied people can see it, that The Hanso Foundation can't hack it, that YOU'RE not part of the Foundation yourself, THEN I'll put the word out to my friends to check out your "evidence" about Hackett and whatever the heck you think he's doing. Deal?
Mel0Drama: ... Deal.
An update has been made to Rachel Blake’s secret page. It is subtle but noticable when found. The fragment code glyph "KU12PB5LV7" can be found at StopHanso.com. Directly below the old 748L glyph is a blank space. Place your cursor over this area and the new glyph will appear.
The video is of the bearded man saying: "What you may not know is why we have assembled the Dharma Initiative."

Never in his wildest dreams could M. David Benson have imagined how this moment would change everything. It was 1964. He had just delivered, from the back of his beat-to-the-bolts 1959 Jeep FC-150, the very first crate of Apollo Bars to San Francisco’s legendary J. Pickersweet’s Five and Dime.
Benson knew this was the moment of truth. If Pickersweet liked what you had to sell, profit and prosperity would most certainly follow. But if he took issue with your product…
Benson held his breath as Pickersweet bit into the impossibly rich, unimaginably creamy Apollo Bar. A full heart-wrenching ten seconds passed.
And then, the miraculous happened.
Pickersweet’s mustache curled up above a grin that stretched from ear to ear. The Apollo Bar had landed in the Golden Gate City.

(Image of another faceless man – silhouette of, presumably, M. David Benson)
Born in 1938, M. David Benson is the child of Nils Christer Benson, son of Oskar Benson, founder of Scandinavia’s revered Benson Chocolatiers.
Some would say Benson was a child of strife. His grandfather, Oskar Benson, was a man of tradition. Upon learning of his son’s engagement to a woman well below his station, Oskar turned his back on Nils, cutting him from the family inheritance. Leaving Norway with his pregnant wife, Elli, Nils established a new life in the U.S., joining the U.S. Marine Corps in December 1941. Sadly, however, Nils Benson lost his life on Omaha Beach just a few short years later.
Like many immigrants, the widowed Elli Benson, felt a strong sense of patriotism for her adopted country. Her husband had died defending America, and M. David Benson was raised to cherish his homeland.
M. David Benson served America in the Korean War and recounts the moment when he, too, discovered that chocolate ran through his veins:
“The six of us were pinned down – scared witless. I knew we’d be lost if we didn’t come together. So, I rifled through my pack and found it – the Benson Chocolate Bar mom had sent. They were expensive. She was poor. But once a month, like clockwork, there was that care package. Six ways, I split that chocolate, and even with death staring us in the eye, not a one of us could deny the smile on his face. It was dead midnight, but for that sweet moment, as we ate that Benson Bar, the sun came up for us all.”
It was in that foxhole that M. David Benson first envisioned the Apollo Bar. Less than two years later, that vision had become a reality. And the rest, as they say, is history.

THE APOLLO BAR
(Image of dripping chocolate)
After his tour ended Benson knew what he had to do. He would bring the Benson Bar to America, but with a change. He would make it affordable, but with no sacrifice to quality, so that every American, regardless of class, creed or station could come together through the simple delight of the world’s richest, creamiest milk chocolate.
Bringing this proposal to his grandfather, a man he barely knew, Benson was devastated to learn Benson Chocolatiers had gone under, the brand sold to a British candy manufacturer. However, Oskar Benson had a surprise for his grandson. Having missed out on his childhood, hoping only to reconnect after so many regretful years, Oskar Benson offered his grandson the most valuable family secrets: the original, secret recipe fro Benson Milk Chocolate.
Working form this recipe, it was only a matter of time before M. David Benson concocted the recipe for “The Apollo Bar,” a confection fit for even the Greek god of light himself.
Distributed by Apollo Candy Company
(Image of a hot air balloon)
Starting with only the milk chocolate recipe given him by his grandfather, Oskar Benson, M. David Benson began the Apollo Candy Company in 1962, out of a one-room factory in San Francisco’s legendary Cow Hollow district. By 1964, Benson had perfected the recipe for his affordable, yet exceptionally delicious, Apollo Bars, and began distributing them citywide. By 1968, the fledgling company had secured distribution outlets nationwide.
Sadly, in the 1970’s, the Apollo Candy Company fell into dire straights. However, due to the considerable financial intervention of Alvar Hanso, founder of the worldwide philanthropic organization, The Hanso Foundation, the company was saved from bankruptcy… and infused with new life. Today, the Apollo Candy Company is alive and well as the private purveyor of chocolates for Alvar Hanso and his many companies.

(Image of a truck with the Apollo logo on its side and door)
Once he’d perfected the Apollo Bar’s recipe, M. David Benson found himself in a predicament: he’d spent all but his last cent starting the company… which left him with no means to travel around and hawk his sensational new chocolates.
The short of it? He needed a truck, and fast.
But, how? And which truck? This was no small decision. Choosing a distribution vehicle was about more than just getting a box of Apollo Bars from here to there. Whatever Benson chose to drive, he knew it would forever be associated with the Apollo Candy Company. It would represent him, his family and the image of the company he was trying to lift off the ground – for good or for ill.
Luckily, fortune smiled on Benson once again. A close friend had just moved to the Big Apple and had no more need for his Jeep FC-150 Truck. It was beaten up, dirty, looked like it had no business rolling on the streets, but Benson took one look at that jeep and knew it was the perfect truck – not only was it affordable, but it was as rigged and durable as the American spirit.
600,000 miles and 44 years later, Benson still prefers his Jeep FC-150 to the other vehicles in his fleet. As he’s been known to boast, “Apollo himself would glady give up both horse and chariot for a chance to ride in my Jeep FC-150.”

Next podcast...Who loves ya?
When DJ Dan promises more details he sure as heckfire gives em!
1) Do you have a question that's burned a hole through your brain, trashed your limbic system and kept the ole ticker ramped up to 8000 RPMs? Well, my poor ConspiraSpy, DJ Dan takes pity on your plight! If your question is good... no, GREAT, I will answer it LIVE LIVE LIVE on my Friday, August 11th show! So, get cracking! Send those emails to email@example.com!
2) The live show will be on 8/11 at 11 PM Pacific Standard Time, ConspiraSpies!
But, DJ Dan, you ask, where do I tune my interweb browsing software? And when? How do I HEAR THE SHOW??? Sorry kids... you know as well as I that the EYES OF THE MAN are constantly sweeping, searching for good ole DJ Dan. And I ain't gonna let em shut me down!
But, I gotta compromise. The TRUTH is too IMPORTANT to HIDE! So, twelve hours before the show, and not a minute sooner, I'll release the final details. Risky? You bet. But it's the best I can do to throw those loonybirds off the trail.
Note: It looks like Dan has given us a time and a contact e-mail address for his upcoming LIVE! podcast. The only other thing we have to wait for now is the medium, which he tells us will be release 12 hours prior to the podcast. That would be 11AM Pacific Standard Time on 08/11.
Also, if you click on the words LIVE LIVE LIVE you'll be taken to the video announcement of D.J. Dan's LIVE! podcast. We all need to think clearly on what questions should be asked. Let's give him our best!
From collaborator amelia crater this thought:
I reviewed the video on his site and the only icon that's there the whole time is the little flying saucer. Since he's been referencing the X-Files all over the place in his recent posts and Speaker referenced X-Files in People, I'm going to make a prediction that the live webcast will be found by clicking that icon on D.J. Dan's site at the appointed hour and time. Or perhaps that icon will go live and offer another clue to where the broadcast will be aired. However, because that also seems too obvious and easy, I'm probably wrong.

Transcript of Speaker ad (thanks to Amelia Crater for the heads-up):
THE HANSO FOUNDATION: REACHING OUT TO A BETTER TOMORROW?
[includes his little white-shaded avatar]
The Hanso Foundation's television ads were convincing. Their call center and website bragged about their "great achievements." They practically gave us an all-access pass. Nothing to hide, right?
A lot of true believers KNEW the Foundation's pristine image was a front. Their bullhorn? Conspiracy schlock-jock DJDan. He was, of course, dismissed as a "conspiracy nut." That is until the arrival of PERSEPHONE.
Hacker. Helper. Hero. She's been risking her life to uncover the truth. With clever website hacks she skewered each and every "fact" Hanso set before us. While The Life Extension Project HAS produced a 105-year-old orangutan named Joop, it's also been connected to deadly outbreaks of disease in Africa. While the Worldwide Wellness and Prevention Development Program IS supposedly a "far-reaching educational initiative designed to teach the basics of sanitation, nutrition, and disease prevention," P uncovered evidence that the program's hospitals were, in fact, used for organ harvesting. And then there's the Department of Heuristics and Research on Material Applications. What is this DHARMA initiative? What is its connection to a mysterious equation and a room full of number-crunching savants hidden away at a mental hospital in Iceland? And, finally, where's the man who started it all? Is Alvar Hanso even alive? And who is this suspicious "Dr." Mittelwerk (the one running the show in Hanso's absence)? P started to tell us her own theories, but, just as she did--communicating with us directly through Hanso's website--The Foundation SHUT THE SITE DOWN. And, that's when things REALLY started to get weird.
The truth? You won't BELIEVE just how "out there" it really is.It may seem confusing, but help exists. Cut to the heart of the matter and expose the Hanso Foundation with me, Speaker, at http://www.insidetheexperience.com.

Hey, and I'm not going to muck about with any jibber-jabber. If you live in Sydney, I need your help right this second. I get emails all the time from people saying they've seen something cool - but I just got an email from someone swearing they saw a glyph!
scsi_chicken, who emailed me the LOST A-Team video last night, just sent me this:
I was on the monorail just now and while going along Pitt St, I think, I know I saw a glyph in a comic book shop window! We were going way too fast for me to make it out, but the black edges were there, a symbol was there and I swear I saw a code. Now I'm in Darling Harbour at work so I can't get to it, bugger! Help!
Ahhhhhhh!!!!! I can't get there either, so I need YOU to get down there and check it out, pronto! If there is anything (and i really trust scsi's word) take a photo and email it to me - firstname.lastname@example.org - if it's a glyph, we'll get it out! And if it does.... MAJOR props to scsi!
Only 9 hours til part one of the finale!

Fragment Code 24
Fragment Code 24 “750NZF8X” was found in a text messaging service in the UK mentioned by The Other Girl here The text message gives you this link to the glyph. The video fragment is the bearded man saying, "The equation is the brainchild of the mathematician, Enzo Valenzetti."
The Other Girl’s message is as follows:
Brand new code!
Yes indeed, I have got wind of a brand new code - number 23 now if my calculations are correct - thanks to some quick-fingered work by my text-happy mates.
As you've no doubt already seen elsewhere on the web, code 22 was found on Gary Troup's Bad Twin website - it's 89RMCOCDC6D.
Then yesterday, I heard rumblings that Ninja had been informed that someone had seen another on a poster around Sydney, and then I got a call telling me to 'be more mobile'. Well - frankly, I was a little confused, and then I figured it out! I'll let you do the last little bit of hunting for yourselves, but you need to head to the Channel 4 mobile portal - you access it by texting Mobile to 83188. This'll get you the link you'll need to find the next glyph. However, seems that you need to be in the UK for it to work - sorry Stateside/Aussie followers :(
Found beneath the image of the glyph was this message:

The Gary Troup site has been updated and a new glyph found in the background of the page. At www.GaryTroup.net , click on the "About" tab at the top of the page to find the new fragment code "89RMCOCDC6D". JUST ONE PERFECT THING – RACHEL BLAKE AND THE HANSOS
After a slow weekend at the Experience TPTB are at it again. A new glyph code "RGMR" was uncovered today in England. The Channel4 sponsored "The Other Girl's" Blog reveals a new entry entitled, "I've got a secret - and I'm sharing it with you!"
Text: I've got a secret - and I'm sharing it with you!
So, all the toil and long hours spent cultivating useful relationships and sweetening those-who-know has paid off - I bring you Code Numero 20! Yes indeed, I have it, it's mine - and now it can be yours too - just go to the SlashMusic site for new favourite bands and look under 'R'. Seems Rach is branching out into a new career. Or not.”
Click on “new favourite bands” which encourages you to rummage through SlashMusic to find a new band known as "Rachel Blake and the Hansos."
That band's page reveals a truncated image of the new glyph and the new code. The video fragment is of the bearded man saying, "Although the equation has been buried by those who commissioned it..."

We formed in early 2006 and have dedicated ourselves to seeking out the truth in everything around us - lend us your ears and we'll show you what we mean!
This page when loaded reveals the following messages at the top of the screen: Just One Perfect Thing, Be True to Yourself, You Know I know, Bless My cotton Socks I’m in the New, The Time is Passing By, His Teeth as White As Snow, Thanks for the Insult, etc.
Note: Searches in both iTunes and eMusic failed to match any bands with Rachel Blake or Hanso in the name. I wonder if they play Black Rock!?!
FRAGMENT # 21
Glyph code fragment # 21 (VIX7ZXT97) was found today, July 31st, 2006, in the latest release of the Official Lost Podcast. Doc Jensen E.W. Article # 6
Caught in the Web
How will "The Lost Experience" end? EW's expert Jeff Jensen offers his prediction about where the alternate-reality Internet game is going. Plus: introducing the "Da Vinci Code" theory...
UN-LOCKE THE CODE - Who isn't hunting for glyphs to solve the Rachel Blake puzzle at the Lost Experience these days?
First, a burning question:
According to the fictional story that's being told through The Lost Experience, Lost is just a TV show, and the Hanso Foundation is a real organization. QUESTION: Is this blurring of fantasy and reality pertinent to the core mysteries of Lost? Or is it just a creative conceit that has no relevance beyond The Lost Experience?
Hopefully, I'll have an official answer soon. In the meantime, here's DOC JENSEN'S INSTA-THEORY: Rachel Blake, TLE's intrepid heroine, is either bogus or being duped and used by the Hanso Foundation. Either way, her function in Hanso's conspiracy is simply this: to attract a worldwide audience. (You know: just like an ad-supported TV show or certain Internet amusements.) She's a Pied Piper, and her alluring music is intrigue. After all, doesn't everyone love a good mystery? (It has certainly worked for Lost.)
What is Hanso planning to do with the global following that Blake is cultivating? Here's my prediction: In the final act of The Lost Experience, Blake will finally flush the elusive Alvar Hanso out into the open. My guess is that Hanso will agree to participate in a live interview with Blake under the pretense of "setting the record straight." But the interview is a Trojan horse. Literally. The broadcast will be embedded with a subliminal message — perhaps the Numbers; perhaps a new sequence of Numbers — that's designed to do something to us. Maybe unlock our full human potential? Maybe bring instant enlightenment? (See: the "Instant Karma" assertion of Doc Jensen's Jingle Theory of Lost). Within seconds of flashing the subliminal signal, the interview will terminate, bringing a strange, abrupt end to TLE (think: the creepy last scene of The Blair Witch Project), and leaving us all to wonder: What the hell just happened? The final words we'll hear will be Alvar telling Rachel: "It's time to go home, daughter."
Second, an answer to YOUR burning question:
Last week's interview with Rachel Blake was LEGIT. I posed the questions and got authentic answers. Consider the Q&A officially "part of the game," if you like. Put it this way: My interview with Rachel was as "real" as the code-ensconcing glyph that accompanied last week's column. Hope that clears things up for some of you.
As for all of the Jim/Pam fans who've read the previous paragraphs and feel completely well, lost, allow me to explain:
The Lost Experience — a Internet-based "alternate reality game" about a hipster Nancy Drew named Rachel Blake and her efforts to expose the sinister secrets of the Hanso Foundation — has entered an important new phase.
Recently, Blake went to Sri Lanka and recorded a secret Hanso Foundation meeting, during which a film was shown explaining the origins of the Dharma Initiative. Blake has sliced her video document into about 75 little bytes, and now we have to reassemble the film by finding codes that have been scattered across the Web and entering those codes at a website called hansoexposed.com.
When I asked Rachel why she feels she needs to make this so gosh darn difficult — can't she just post the video in its entirety online? — this is what she said:
"If I didn't hide it all over the Web and bury it on corporate [sites], those (expletive)ers would wipe it out. Only chance I have at getting the truth out there is 'gamesmanship.'"
Glyph hunters are invited to share their passwords with fellow glyph hunters. If you want some of mine, send me an e-mail and I'll share what I've collected so far (I've got 20 of the available 20 released as of this writing)... or you can visit this column every Tuesday and I'll recap the info contained in the bits of film and speculate about what they are all adding up to.
But before I do, I encourage you to play the game. Really, it's fun. And it even gives you a nice buzz of smug. "Hey, look at me, I'm a cutting-edge Web guy/gal!'' If you're not in the market for cheap ego boosts, then let the promise of Big Revelations (the Numbers! the DHARMA acronym! Alvar Hanso!) inspire you. Finally, the tricky/trippy/trying experience that has been The Lost Experience is delivering the geeky goods. And what's even better, cheating is allowed! Here's my Glyph Hunting for Dummies suggestion:
1. Set up a glyph-collecting account at hansoexposed.com. It's quick and free and there are NO ADS.
2. Let two killer Lost fan sites — thelostexperience.com or thelostexperienceclues.com — do the glyph hunting for you. They seem to have a knack for finding these things within, like, seconds of their release. Visit one or both of the sites each morning, and scribble down the info they've discovered.
3. Click over to hansoexposed.com; input the codes; inspect and view.
Since there's going to be about 75 of these bits of film, and they are being released out of sequence, my advice would be to arrange them as you go. It's gonna be even more complicated if you wait until the very end.
Or you can just let me explain it for you. Here's what I've pieced together (literally) so far:
— Presumably, the film opens with shady Hanso Foundation exec Dr. Thomas Mittelwerk addressing a group of unseen people.
— Presumably, the group of unseen people are shown a film — a Dharma orientation film. Actually, the mother of all Dharma orientation films.
— The copyright date is 1975. That's five years after the creation of the Dharma Initiative, per the brief history provided by ''Dr. Marvin Candle'' in the Station Three orientation film, and five years before the creation of the Pearl and Swan orientation films, per their copyright dates. This assumes, of course, that the information in those later orientation films is accurate — including their dating.
The film is narrated by an as yet unnamed man with a dark beard and a light accent, probably Danish. It is possible that he could be Alvar Hanso, circa 1975. So far, ''Mr. Beardy,'' as fansites have dubbed him, has explained that:
* In the wake of the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962, the United States and the Soviet Union collaborated with the United Nations on a secret project.
* The DHARMA acronym stands for Department of Heuristics and Research on Material Applications. (Head over to wikipedia.org for a provocative tutorial on Heuristics.) Mr. Beardy adds that Dharma also means ''The one true way.''
* There is also mention of Dharma cofounders Gerald and Karen DeGroot and a ''secret facility...''
There's more — including a reference to an ''equation'' that was ''buried by those who commissioned it'' — but those are the chunky morsels gleaned from the few fragments so far released. DOC JENSEN TIP: Check out valenzettiequation.com, an official TLE website whose purpose in the game has not yet been made clear. Check out the passages about how the U.S. and the Soviet Union, working with the U.N., financed the work of mathematician Enzo Valenzetti in the wake of the Cuban Missile Crisis. One would have to assume that the Valenzetti Equation is the project referred to in the film.
THE DA VINCI CODE THEORY OF LOST
All this glyph hunting and code breaking definitely has me feeling like Robert Langdon — which reminds of how much Lost resembles everybody's favorite heretical conspiracy theory thriller. Consider:
O, Draconian Devil! O, Devilish Digits!
In Dan Brown's blockbuster novel, the first riddle that symbologist Robert Langdon has to crack is the relevance of the legendary Fibonacci sequence to various other riddles. On Lost, we have the Numbers (4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42), a mysterious set of integers linked to various other mysteries (Hurley's bad luck, the Hatch, the computer). Could the Numbers be the Valenzetti Equation? If so, then check out that aforementioned Valenzetti website, especially the part that states where Valenzetti went to school: the Fibonacci State Institute of Advanced Sciences.
Follow The (Cultural) Clues!
In The Da Vinci Code, clues to an elaborate mystery/conspiracy are found in notable works of art like Mona Lisa and The Last Supper. Similarly, Lost has referenced novels like The Turn of the Screw, The Third Policeman, and now Charles Dickens' Our Mutual Friend to illuminate (albeit obliquely) character arcs and aspects of its mythology. (And what could be more scavenger hunt-ish than The Lost Experience, which has fans searching the Web for pop culture sites?)
In The Da Vinci Code, Langdon must crack the code to a lockbox known as a cryptext that contains the location of the Holy Grail. The corollary in Lost is the Map, showing the locations of various Hatches on the Island and cluttered with annotations describing the functions and history of the Dharma Initiative. But getting to actually see this map is as tricky as cracking Langdon's cryptext, since it's painted on a mysterious retractable wall and only visible in black light. (By the way, this current glyph-hunting phase of The Lost Experience — pure cryptext craziness.)
''The Man'' Is Lying To You. (Or Is He?)
In Da Vinci and Lost, anything that is presented as ''official information'' should be regarded with skepticism. In Da Vinci, it's the accepted history of the Catholic Church. In Lost, it's the purported history of The Dharma Initiative provided by Dr. Marvin Candle (or is that Dr. Mark Wickmund?) in the Swan and Pearl Orientation Films.
It's The Themes, Stupid!
Both Da Vinci and Lost share a central concern: the conflict between faith and reason. And both use convoluted conspiracy theories as the means to present criticisms of blind trust and zealous belief. (In Da Vinci, it's the Vatican's efforts to suppress the truth about Mary Magdalene; in Lost, it's the myth of the Button, per the story spun by the Orientation Film.) It should be noted that in both Da Vinci and Lost, these sketchy, poorly substantiated and seemingly implausible conspiracy theories are essentially proven to be true. In Da Vinci, Langdon finds reason to believe in the Magdalene heresy after realizing that ''The Holy Grail'' is buried in the Louvre. And in Lost, Locke realizes that the Button really does have a function (and a terrifying one at that) when he discovered in the season finale that the computer wasn't useless after all but was actually regulating the fluctuations of the Island's unique electromagnetic energy. (I think.)
I know what you might be saying: ''Cute, Doc Jensen. A neat parlor trick — but how does it really illuminate Lost?''
A fair criticism. But I have an answer. See, The Da Vinci Code Theory of Lost is actually the appetizer before the big meal — an exciting new Big Theory that I think represents the closest I have ever come to cracking the Lost code, and I dare say it might represent the most reasonable theory I've read anywhere. A bold statement, I know. But in the next couple weeks, I'll prove it to you. I call it the ''TV Is Good For You Theory of Lost.''
But that's ''coming soon.'' More immediately, keep checking in with EW.com's blog, PopWatch, throughout the week for TLE updates. And come back next week for our next TLE recap, and maybe a surprise or two. Until then:
